Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Vista's Plan

It's obvious that Vista wants out of the software industry.

They didn't hire a software visionary to expand the company and inspire people.

Instead, they hired the Grim Reaper.

Whatever new name they assign to the combined entity won't matter because it won't even exist in a couple of years.

The pieces - oh, sorry, "business units" - will be sold off.

Vista has so much in software! Why would they get out of such a lucrative market where companies left and right are mis-managing their strategy, making themselves targets for private equity? Nope, there is plenty of money to be made, especially as early software companies are running long in the tooth and have not rejuvenated themselves. For every Satya Nadella, there are 10 other software CEOs who have only trained on floating with the market that when the pandemic exposed all weaknesses, they had no direction to survive and thrive.

Although Vista's financial thesis on Citrix was challenged by the turn of the market, their broader plan around a three-way split appears to be less impacted than the downturn. Elliott knows the company inside-out so they are certainly not going to have dreamy eyes to grow the business. They calculated that for some time period at least, the parts are greater than the sum. And once they saw Wrike, they could easily see that Citrix management had no real plan and it was time to strike.

So get ready for radical surgery coming soon, with money for PE, some for the remaining execs, and yes, some for those who stay around the wild ride.

Vista exiting from software industry doesn't makes any sence, look at what there are doing, the companies they invest in and etc and you will know. If you consider all the companies owned by Vista they are one of the largest software vendor in the world.

The interesting point here is that they are not doing what they did at TIBCO during the last 7 years but are trying something different.

“Out” of the software industry? Make your comments make sense before you make them. Disinformation just muddies the water.

Might I think they regret getting involved in this deal? For what I perceive them to be in pursuit of… not really, but it’s a better place to start a discussion than saying Vista “wants out of the software industry.”

Funny - I said the exact same thing yesterday, in literally those exact words. Word for word.
