Thread regarding 3M layoffs

3000 patents per year. At what ROI?

I saw a 3M publication bragging about patents. What was the last blockbuster product this company ever got from the labs?

The person invented Post it has 20 patents.
Some ph Ds in CRL have 80 patents.
Invent something useful is a inventor, otherwise, is a waste of resources

Most often companies never materialize a return on patents. They just do not know how to monitize them.

No meaningful innovations in 20 years.
Just saying.
I know one dude filed 100 patents with zero products.
And key technology was not well protected. competitors can easily copy it without risk.

3M pay top dollars for those working in CRL, yet, no connection to the products and the market. Go figure.
