3M workers in Aearo earplug unit can get full pay in Ch. 11

Employees in 3M Co. (NYSE: MMM) subsidiary Aearo Technologies, which is operating under Chapter 11 protection, will be allowed to get their full back wages, a federal judge ruled this week.

The Wall Street Journal reports on the ruling, which will let Aearo circumvent the usual $15,150 per-employee cap on wages earned (but not yet paid out) before the bankruptcy filing. Aearo had said that because of employee incentives, some of its employees were owed more than that limit.

Aearo was a dormant sub that they restarted to take the hit… it didn’t have any people

Under the Roman Empire, he will treat these aearo folks like plebes and give them stale bread and salt water. Don't count on him or Monish giving over a dime. They will force aearo employees to sue, which will cost these poor folks to pay over a third to the lawyers just to win what they deserve.

The question is ... will 3M actually pay what employees are owed or will they withhold some or all claiming that bankruptcy prevents them from making good on the compensation they originally promised. Unfortunately questions like this have to be asked in the era of Roman.
