Thread regarding Ford layoffs

I have a very strong feeling the cuts are not done and we will see more soon.

Despite them telling us we are done.

Next series of cuts are possibly before or after christmas holidays. Hard to know which groups. Few sources are indicating Ford Drive teams will be terminated as well as Ford Pro. Farley is disappointed with their performance. Also, the design teams will be either get cut or re-organized ( Farley is bringing in alot of folks from outside of Ford, Jae Park is VP of Digital Design, he's ex-Google/ ex-Amazon )

If you work at FORD there is no such a thing as job security!

Ford keeps suckering me in with good designs, and then the post warranty quality kicks me right in the ba--s, over and over again.

They need to hire more people to focus on 200,000 mile quality.

Regardless of what Farley said, the math says:

8000 - 3000 = 5000 more cuts to go.

They've been cutting staff every few years since I was hired in 2000. Of course there will be more cuts.

It is a sinking ship with no direction. It is up to individuals how long they want to suffer in there. If you are good it is more frustrating to work here. Take care.

I think we'll have some layoffs in October, that were pending because some divisions asked for an extension. I believe the numbers should be around 1k.

Then, by December 1st, we'll know how many employees are retiring and taking the lump sum. I am expecting to be at least a few thousands. I believe management will not move forward with more layoffs until they know these numbers.

Then, just before Xmas, I am sure that FMC will let go some contractors. The company has been doing this for a while now.

Starting in February/March, we'll see more layoffs. I am not expecting the numbers to be as big as the last time, but I think we'll have 2 or 3 layoffs next year, while the workload is moved to Brazil, Mexico.

At one point, probably mid next year, the company will hire massively (mostly contractors) in order to deliver all the projects behind schedule. This won't work, since there are gaps in the technical knowledge. Nonetheless, the company will still continue with the programmed layoffs.

IMO, Ford will leave just a tiny skeleton crew in NA, while most of the work is sent overseas or outsourced to the suppliers. Almost all employees are going to be goners in 5 years or less.

Absolutely no cuts for the balance of the year. Company will wait and see how many will retire by November 30th to take advantage of the Lumpsum being high
If the number retiring is less than what they project, they will have one more involuntary cut before 2nd Qtr next year.

Ford still has 20,000 too many salary employees. The LL ranks are bloated, should be reduced by 50%. Those are the huge salaries that make a difference on the financials.

The dreamers at Ford Next should be culled, as well. Can anyone name a single successful project from that group? And we had to go outside to hire a VP to manage them, as none of them are promotable to that level.

The company didn't implement the quarterly check in because it's a good motivation tool.

I feel if there was any tiny bit of compassion for the employees, they would absolutely offer a voluntary now. We had heard long ago there were going to be 3 separate set of cuts this year. We've now had 2. When is the 3rd and is it voluntary or involuntary?

I believe we will see more cuts before the end of the year.

Depends on what your definition of soon is. Farley clearly stated that this was not a one time exercise in his townhall message
