Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Layoffs will not help

Everybody and their mother knows that laying off experienced employees will not solve any of the problems created by inadequate and self-serving management. This never worked for anybody and it will not work for 3M. This is like putting a band-aid on a gaping wound and hoping it will stop the bleeding. Spoiler alert: it will not. It will only make it worse because it'll continue to bleed while everybody on top keeps patting themselves on the back for a job well done.

Most of the seniors at this company shove work onto young kids and then burn them out. Be better to have a true work culture instead of a boomer farm.

Of course it does not help, but that is the only thing the duo of Mike and Moni are capable of doing. They simply do not have any other plans in place.

I will be 52 next year but I was hoping to hang on at least till I reach 55. Still have a mortgage to serve.

I retired last year after 34 years. I agree with the poster that it's time for the older people to go. You have exploited and optimized 3M for decades, got a pension. Move on, time for some new thoughts. It was our generation that drove the downfall of 3M. Anyone over 50 should be leave now in my opinion.

@young and lazy is the way forward

Learn from the people who have walked the path before you... respect them. Because someday -- and sooner than you could ever imagine -- you're going to be old, too.

Work hard means to getting things done.
Work smart means to kiss the right a-s.
There's a reason why the once great mother mineral becomes an assss today.

Lay off the older ones? Gawd, I’m so sick of this new generation of workers who think they have the answers. The finger pointing is not to the older workers. The finger should be pointed to upper management.

I think it makes perfect sense to get rid of all the older employees and build the new 3m with younger workers,, yes mistakes will be made but no worse than the old hands who might know it all and work harder than us young ones but we are the future as you dont have to work hard just work smart
