Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Does it even matter anymore?

Does it matter how well we do or has our fate already been decided? It feels that no matter how good our numbers are at any given location, it won't help. With so many lies, so many malversations, and so much more that happened behind the curtain that we still don't know about, BBBY is destined to go the way of Sears.

I was going to make a separate post but OP said it.
You are Sears. I worked at Sears for many years and I see the same things happening with you. I saw this with BBB a few years ago because I noticed things were being handled the way Sears had handled them. Red flag for the future.

Short advice is: it is not going to get better. There is literally nothing you can do to make it better.
The forces that control the fate of BBB are not impacted by store level actions.
Decisions are made for many reasons & not " if I do good, we will stay open."
We went through this at Sears too.
Read the Sears board on here but go back to
2016, 2017 & 2018 posts.
Recent posts are nonsense but I think you're where Sears was in 2016/early 2017.
See if you can relate.

The fate of all BBB associates was decided well over a year ago. If anyone left still can't see the writing on the wall they are just in denial or too lazy to find another job.

Looking at this quarter’s financials, things look bad for BBB. And, what is with the su----e?

Good luck!

Was an ASM for 15+ years. Got out three weeks ago and couldn't be happier. Started looking when I couldn't drag myself out of bed in the morning to go to work just to get depressed everyday. Please see the writing on the wall and get out..you will be happier..I promise. You're a nobody to them. Go somewhere that cares about you..you deserve it.

I can also say some of the current SMs are out for themselves as well. I, as a former employee, ran into one of them at a local grocery and the best thing that could be said was that he was petty while his store circles the drain. Not my fault. Even one of the cashiers mentioned that he should "get a life".

No reflection on the people still staying, but many of the talented managers left long ago. They are playing Nearer My God to Thee after hitting the berg.

the biggest lie is they keep saying they were closing underperforming stores; i know for a fact the store i was just laid off from does WAY less business then at least 2 stores closing within 30 or 40 miles of them. in my opinion, it has nothing to do with performance and everything to do with leases and landlords
