I don't know one person who left and felt like they made a mistake afterward. I know there are many people who are scared to quit considering the state of the economy but trust me, things can only get better. I'm considering taking a job that pays less just to get out of this mess. There are things that are more important than money, and my mental health is one of them.

Don't quit. Just take the other job while you ride 3M into the ground. Over employed!
For this 1980s hire, Lehr embodied the best of 3M culture on innovation and investment in people. Some of this waned in the 1990s but 3M was still a much better place than the competition. Starting with GE Mack, the descent picked up steam. Buckley was alright- no real issues with him. Inge had all the right boxes checked and was decent, but he failed in his most important job and left us with an invisible CEO. When work begins to consume one's personal life to the point of anger, depression, anxiety, etc. It is past time to go. For those packaged out, once you get on your feet again you won't have the stress you've had under Roman.
A long time ago I was faced with a similar choice and I fretted and stewed over what to do. Then a dear friend, who knew I was struggling with making a decision, send me a card. He wrote “The day after you leave BLANK is just like any other day. Know that you have friends on the outside.” From that day forward I slept like a baby and I never looked back. My friend is gone now, but his sage advice rings true to this very day.
