Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Falling like rain

I saw a lot of people's emails coming back undeliverable this week. That's how I find out someone has been cut. When I brought this up on a call with my manager he downplays it like usual and then arranges meetings to plan how to spread the unfulfilled tasks around. Time to leave

It's astounding how unsophisticated the IRIF process has been. I was let go in July and my phone still works. Beyond the customer calls I've fielded, I've been receiving calls from Xerox collections looking for payment on accounts that I previously covered. Not only do they not know who to call, they don't know I'm no longer an employee. The right hand isn't even on the same body and the left hand with this trainwreck of a company. Best practice is to have emails and voicemails route to a manger, period. The fact that my previous customers have no clue who to reach is pathetic. At least I'm professional and know who to forward these messages to, but beyond billing, inventory, delivery and general incompetence issues, this is the quickest way to lose customers. Couldn't happen to a better company.

Poundcake, Xerox HR is not that sophisticated, even in the heyday of Lean Six Sigma, process improvement, etc. Sometimes the laid off person has time to send an email before they leave, other times the laid off person's manager has enough class to notify those with whom the laid off person dealt. But, much of the time it's as Panama says, you find out when you email the laid off person and it bounces back.
