Thread regarding Ford layoffs

A much better choice of partners than Ford:

U.S. electric vehicle maker Rivian is partnering with Mercedes-Benz to build a factory in Europe that will produce electric vans for both companies.

The companies announced a memorandum of understanding Thursday and plan to create a jo--t-venture to create the factory within a few years.

Interesting how people forget about a so called "merger of equals" between Daimler and Chrysler. Those who do not learn history are damned to repeat it. Daimler will cannibalize Rivian...

Ford is just as likely to go bankrupt. We lose money on every EV we sell, and our warranty repair costs are double that of reliable vehicle makers. How will we make it up? Volume.

Ford is a 🤡 show.

The company is doomed, and will most likely go bankrupt. Ford was wise not to commit to buying a vehicle from them. https://www.motortrend.com/features/i-bought-a-rivian-r1t-electric-pickup-order-delivery/

Go read the Layoff pages for Rivian. Lots of unhappy people. So not sure how well they are actually doing, despite the potential Amazon order for trucks. My guess is Amazon put in contingent orders with multiple suppliers and will play them against each other
