Cogent is laying off the majority of old tmo/sprint Wireline employees effectively may 1, 2023. Very sad day.

While wireline hasn't been upkept since merger it was extremely short sighted to get rbackhand. I guess they really like paying Verizon and the other encumbents stupid amounts for backghaul and access.

TMO is just a step above being an MVNO themselves who just happens to be enjoying the fruit of legacy Sprint's previous 2.5 spectrum purchases. So as you sheep stick around for a bit longer until the market finds its next telcom darling, don't sit there feeling too smug about yourselves. It was Sprint's leadership who put you in this position, not T-Mobile's. John and Mike simply took advantage of what was already identified for them as valuable. You know the same way you clowns fell into the AT&T merger breakup payout that allowed you to become relevant in the first place. =) If it weren't for d-mb luck, there would be no T-Mobile.

Disgusted by these replies. These are real people with real lives and real families who chose to support customers and help keep the legacy Sprint network afloat until its value could be realized in a bigger picture. You have no idea what this group of people have been through in the last 15+ years. There is no way anyone would allow something so valuable to be shuttered. Your comments show just how little you know and how ugly the culture is at TMUS. I’m sure those at legacy Sprint are happy to be leaving such a horrible culture. Get over yourselves and remember, NO ONE is safe from layoffs when it comes right down to it. Your time may come faster than you think.

Sprint will be a nice addition to that cluster. Cogent is land of misfit toys.

I hope Cogent isn't a political as TMUS. At least we still have a standing offer to take a buy out until a year after we go to Cogent. If we don't like the place we take our money and run.

Wireless employees will still be watching for layoffs.

If you look at the Fierce Wireless article on it, Tmo sold wireline for a buck and took a 1 billion dollar write off.
