Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Who is worse, Monish or Mike?

Monish seems to think that cutting travel budgets for sales reps will claw back a sales gap or that firing lab people making the next products with fix COGs.

Mike thinks that by telling himself that the businesses and functions decided on their own to restructure, he can hide in his new office, even though he and his buddy Monish gave out all the targets. Sure, they decided on their own...

Roman is hopelessly tone-deaf and completely incompetent to lead a company like 3M.
Inge put him in so he would look good in comparison.

Monish has the GE gameplan. GE methods are well known in 3M and in general in the business world.

GE gameplan is great at optimizing a good business.

GE gameplan is Terrible at keeping it a good business - R&D, customers, morale

McNerney was brought into a company that needed to optimize. He changed the culture with his disciples Sauer, Roman, Thulin.

Monish is very competent to do what he was brought in to do.
And he is a true believer in the GE gameplan.

It's just the wrong gameplan.

So Roman is much worse - He put Monish in.

Can't blame Monish for being Competent but executing the totally wrong gameplan agreed to with Roman and the Board.

They really have to get rid of both of them.

Probably Monish as he comes to the company with playbook and instead has made billions of dollars of share loss. It is surprising that someone could make an already bad situation this much worse.
