Performance Review ?

When can I expect the meeting from the manager about performance reviews? Did it already start?

I personally had someone get their IPF Raised by HR. Purely because of their race. After that I will never trust IPF to mean anything.

In the teams I've worked in, the IPF is more based on the "good 'ol boy" network and whether or not you played golf w/ your boss or his boss or if your work is high visibility which makes it very subjective.

I've seen people whose project failed, was over-budget and overdue, get high IPF's and huge bonus funded by those whose project was successful, on-time and under budget. The proj mgr who failed was a golfing buddy w/ the director and the PM who succeeded was just a nobody on the team who worked hard and did good work.

I've also seen teams, where the people who do the "visible" work on delivering changes get the high IPF scores and those who did all the hard, back-end work to make those visible changes possible get nothing.

But, in the case you mention where it's raised due to race, I bet that there is a bigger picture you are not sharing w/ us. HR is not your friend, but is there to protect the company from lawsuits. If they raised someone's IPF due to race, it's because that BU had a skewed range of IPFs that were biased against that race and that person had the worst IPF. Otherwise you'd have said it was raised by a Director or VP due to caste, which again, is a problem. Be careful, your racism is showing.

there's no performance appraisal.

IPF.

Till 2014, there were annual performance discussions. I hated it.

That was one of the most shocking things as I came back to Cisco. I worked for several tech companies, but Cisco is the only company that there's no performance appraisal.

V2Mother is there, but that's not a performance appraisal.

That way, howsoever you work hard, it just doesn't affect anything. What may get you is a stupid recognition or connected recognition or award which is just a "mark of completion," not really a recognition or award which other tech companies give some of the employees.

When has Cisco ever conducted performance reviews?

Manager has already submitted. It is now going up the chain for approvals. What is submitted is not always what is approved. Many IPF reduced to hit bell curve.
Should be available starting 9/23. Expect conversation between 9/23 and 9/30 when bonus pay out occurs.

There is no performance review at Cisco. You are a hostage of your manager’s delusion .
