Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

Laid Off Today

The call I was on barely lasted 5 minutes and was basically, if you are on this call, you have been affected and today is your last day.

HR will send you an email with more info, and for us it to forward to our personal email as we will be locked out of system today.

Still awaiting the HR email.

So does no one get the irony here? See comment above "On September 5, 2022, Avaya Holdings Corp. (“Avaya” or the “Company”) authorized a reduction in force".

The layoff decision was filed on Labor Day. Hahahaha

Also I could see how many and the names on my call. One of whom sent out an email to the extended team and said good bye before email was terminated.

Not surprised since I was with Lucent before the spinoff. Anyone around then knows that Lucent restated its earnings about 3 times during the spinoff blackout period when employees could not trade their ESOP shares. Not sure if I recall the actual numbers but was stuck with stock that went from 30 to 3 in that blackout.

Not surprised to see that just in the last month that Avaya sent out that employees could buy even more shares in their ESOP.

I saw this coming.

Avaya is and always will be a joke. I left several years moving into a different technology and never looked back. I did however advise my friends to change companies and et re-educated... sadly they did not - many are unfortunately affected in yet another round of cr-p.

10 minute meeting was ridiculously uninformative, followed by 121 page exit document to read and follow. Thanks Avaya! Big stab in back for those devoted Avayans for 15+ years service. WOW! No words.

To any and all laid off. This isn’t and never was about you. This is about poor management and their decisions. For those of us that have been there before we should be here to help and make sure people land as softly as possible. You are bigger and better than this circumstance

Avaya just published Form 8K with the SEC.

Item 2.05 Costs Associated with Exit or Disposal Activities

On September 5, 2022, Avaya Holdings Corp. (“Avaya” or the “Company”) authorized a reduction in force, which together with incremental cost reduction actions unrelated to the workforce reduction, will operationalize more than $250 million of annual cost reductions, allowing the Company to realize the higher end of the Company’s plans to achieve annual cost reductions of between $225 million to $250 million, as announced on July 28, 2022. The reduction in force better aligns the size of Avaya’s workforce with its operational strategy and cost structure.
The Company estimates that it will incur approximately $23 million to $26 million in pre-tax restructuring charges, all of which are expected to be in the form of cash-based expenditures and substantially all of which are expected to be related to employee severance and other termination benefits. The Company will amend this Current Report on Form 8-K to provide its estimate of aggregate costs incurred related to these actions once available, if materially different than the range noted herein.
The charges that the Company expects to incur in connection with this workforce reduction are estimates and subject to a number of assumptions, and actual results may differ materially. The foregoing estimated amounts do not include any non-cash charges associated with stock-based compensation. The Company expects to operationalize additional cost reduction actions that will include workforce reductions as well as other incremental cost reduction actions unrelated to workforce reductions. These actions will trigger incremental restructuring charges beyond those noted above as they are finalized. The Company expects to recognize substantially all of these pre-tax restructuring charges in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2022.
