Last time I saw Joe Pinto, at CL Barcelona in 2020, he had zero interest in coming back to Cisco. Sure, he was good but AS really needed new leadership and direction. What it didn’t need was the leadership and direction that was brought in. Chasing subscription services was probably the right call, sacrificing the plan/design/implement services that led to subscriptions was not.

I’m in partnerland now and CX is considered a joke across the industry, certainly in consulting services (I can’t speak for CMS). Let me put it this way, if I had to choose between using CX or a ho-o from Union Square, I’d be heading downtown. Actually I’m joking. We’ve built a good consulting practice with a number of excellent people out of the old AS. We’ve become self sufficient. Good for us, not so good for Cisco.

Actually, reading this back, perhaps MM got it right after all. We are doing the PDI, which has long sales cycles and not massive margins, Cisco is still getting the subscriptions. Money for old rope.

Seems like not many people on this board understand that the market is shifting and Cisco is trying to keep up - if you don't see it, you might be part of the problem; slowing the transformation down.

Don't bring back anybody, just get rid of that poor excuse of a leader MM. Then spin off services into its own company.

Cisco is far too gone for any of the original Cisco leadership to return and make a difference.

They all left because they knew this day was coming.

Joe was better at keeping the wage slaves distracted with positivity. MM doesn't care enough to fake it.

don't bring back the old/aged Joe pinto, bring the young Joe pinto.. Joe made bad mistakes at the end of time, eg: hire friends (marine corps sergeant) to VP head few business, and sergent bring his old boss along at old retired EDS, ruined many business before himself moves on to better things.. with his old boss of course..

friends help friends, and that is the end game.
