Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

I would not recommend anyone to come here

It is obvious that it is getting more and more difficult for UP to find new employees.

Have you ever been asked to refer a friend to a vacancy?

The ones that recommended people to work here are the ones that get pallets full of hotdogs

I would recommend working here if you understand what you are getting into. You’ll work weekends and nights in the weather. Your manager won’t appreciate what you do and will always expect more. Quantity is more important to them than quality. But on the other hand the pay is about equal to what you can get in other similar jobs. If someone is young this could be a great stepping stone to something better. I wouldn’t look at it as a long term career but rather a learning experience.

Of course the UP foamers always say nobody cares about Glassdoor. UP is ranked at the bottom lol!

If nobody read Glassdoor reviews then UP would have plenty of applicants and wouldn’t have a second chance program recruiting from prisons. I guess if you’re in prison you don’t care about Glassdoor, so maybe actually a good point regarding UP’s new target audience.

UP definitely cares A LOT about its image and Glassdoor reviews. This is exactly why there is a UP manager on here that monitors this website. You can tell which posts are his, as they get a lot of downvotes.

@1idr, If nobody cares about Glassdoor, then why does UP coerce employees to write positive reviews?

Nobody cares about Glassdoor. There are many companies that have negative reviews there. I would not recommend anyone to work at any railroad as there are many alternatives now that pay as well, but the Glassdoor stuff is just simply overrated.

I would recommend working here, I tell them just don’t trust them. They will keep you as long as they need you, there is no loyalty. Why do you think they started hiring felons? It isn’t out of the goodness of their heart, They don’t have as many employment and are much more controllable

Last I heard, only 16% of UP employees would recommend working here to family/friends. For the fact checking manager that patrols this website, yes those were the results from the last employee survey.

I've been asked a few times already. My neighbor had asked me about getting a job there and I told him that it's not a job I trusted.
