Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Trying to keep my job

Despite everything, despite all the issues this company has, I love my job here. I have worked in other companies in the industry, but for now, here is still the best for me so I care about keeping my job. Do you believe that it is possible to keep your job if you put in a lot of effort and are engaged, or is that irrelevant when the layoffs come?

Your age and salary will determine where you are on the layoff list. Higher age and salary put you higher on the list

Bean counters will not know or care how hard you worked. They will evaluate cold facts. How much seniority, your race, your gender, your education, age, work experience etc. Your data will comprise of a score, which will determine if they keep you, transfer you or send you on your way.

Doesn't matter how hard you work or how smart you are. Just whether your boss likes you. And don't get old.

Irrelevant. Be more worried the older you are.
