Do you think that the Buying Organization may be affected by layoffs soon?

There are too many associate merchants at the moment so as people leave, those won’t get filled.
But they’re having a problem keeping buyers at the moment. They’re leaving in droves and Walmart is lacking experience and depth in the merchant core because they’re all tired of the long hours. All the support roles for merchandising have either been eliminated or are are so understaffed they no longer can do anything beyond putting out fires.
It’s sad.
They’ll restructure it to save money.
DMMs will go away.
Merch directors will report to SVPs, have a category, and 4-5 AMs that report to them.
86 and 85 disappear.
83 changes from “Associate Merchant” to some other title that feels less jr level but pay stays the same.
Yes, they are over inflated and with the consumer having less money to spend, they will get hit hard. Marketing is also another dept. Also anyone in IT not associated with keeping the lights on will not be safe. Look out at your directors calendars and watch out for big blocks of meetings showing up. They will come in waves like they did in 2008 2009
