Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Always laying off the people that do the work

If you look through the News Post WalMart does layoffs every 2 years. Every two years there's new executive leaders and those are the ones that are making the decisions or what I call resume building. They are trying to do things to enhance their resume to make it look better for the next position that they are trying to go for as they climb that corporate ladder. In the meantime the people at the home office and the people at the stores that are actually doing the work that bring in the money for the business for the shareholders is what it really boils down to are the ones that are being let go. Right now there are way too many chiefs with way too high of paychecks and if you cut a couple of those you would probably have the same effect of the amount of people you just cut without hurting the flow of inventory or the flow of the stores and how they look or how everything runs. from what I see the executives do nothing but tour stores use a jet to go down there they're wasting all kinds of money by doing that they're not actually doing anything they talk to associates yes but at the end of the day that's pretty much their job they look at reports look at the numbers and they look at stores that's it. The biggest decisions that they make is when they do layoffs I get it it's hard to run a company as large as Walmart however without all the associates they wouldn't have a Walmart to run. It's time to trim some of the executive fat I don't see them cutting their bonuses I don't see them doing anything to help and keep people employed. At the end of the day what they're going to tell every associate think it's laid off is it's not personal it's business well it's very personal when you take away somebody's financial ability to support themselves or their family. And again I'm going to reiterate look through the feeds every two years Walmart cuts jobs but they never cut executive jobs. And when an executive does leave they have this great little parachute that they can use that gives them even more money as they walk out the door. There are too many chiefs too many people trying to resume build and the ones that are keeping the store operational they're the ones that end up being hurt in the long run. And yes while the big notices come out every 2 years there are always these little spurts that they don't have to tell about people being laid off because you only have to announce it if you are publicly traded company if it is over a certain head count so they can lay off little bits at a time every quarter if they wanted to without it being a public announcement.

Every dog has its day…..

My immediate leader and higher ups treated me badly and I reported. First the HR was gone, then the VP, then the director and then the Sr. Director. I’m still hanging in there…lol

Walmart did have layoffs during Covid. And, during the work remote period. They gave the usual 60 days to find a new role, then, if I recall correctly, six months of pay, plus severance based on length of employment. The package was higher than prior packages to avoid bad press.

So glad I left this madness a few years ago. If you are a long-term associate please understand the company’s leadership team has zero respect or appreciation for you. Doug and team have been cutting people for 10 years or more (even during covid lol), their culture is rotten and they clearly managed by incompetent people. No way to build a career here anymore, YOU DON’T MATTER (even if you are a VP or above). Get out of here while you can, don’t say nobody told you when it happens to you and you end up begging them for another job.

Leadership sets the tone and tempo. Until lil' Douggie is gone expect more scapegoating. The thing is stockholders and speculators are starting to see through the Walmart madness and they're not going to get way with it for much longer. Be scared lil' Douggie...the board is not going to put up with you for much longer. Look no further than Jim Cramer for further proof.

They took covid off doing layoffs... Bad press. It been happening ever year except this last 1.5. It only hits the news when executives need to show the board they are cutting costs. This next year plus will be tough. If still employed.... Have resumes ready.... Network.... If ya want to stay in the machine.... Make sure you aligned to core business teams that help p/l or can't be cut to keep lights on. Be scared if your director/VP doesn't personal know what you provide to his/her goals. That's how ya get cut.... Especially if your a long-termer. Good luck

Yes, this is why I left Walmart. You see them get rid of suck ups who don’t work and leave 1 or 2 and keep all the people who don’t work but talk to higher ups all day..
