Can someone explain the new commission structure I'm a producer at an agency My agent offered 17% on new business and I still keep the 3.5 % on renewals. I have been comparing to the independent agencies which pay 15% on the front and 15% on the back end some of the carriers pay a little more doesn't seem like a bad deal. My salary is about $1700 a month that could use a bump. I have been with the company 15 years and make over a 6 figure salary. I'm a bit tired of the silly stuff that Allstate has done in regards to rates and sending support overseas and a damn wsr for everything not to mention the silly chat feature. If I have to leave and go independent that seems easy to do however, I do like my agent and the culture in the office as well as the customers . The longer I stay I don't think things will be any better for me and my attitude because my anxiety is starting to grow nor do I want to seem like a cancer in the agency for the long run.

It really depends where you are at, and who the independent agent is you work for. I have placed quite a few producers from IA's with Allstate Agents due to a variety of reasons, but pay is number 1.
It really does depend on the state you are in though.
It’s a s.h.I.t. show at Allstate these days run by leaders who want to put allstate on a crash course to die off and ruin more lives
Thank you for the reply I am in michigan and we have the highest auto rates in the country. That's why I was raising the question you have a valid point some states will slow down due to losses and we have a lot here. So my disarray and uncertainty such a disgrace and a sm--k to all the hard working agents in the field.
As a 30 + year agent...we don't know what to think. NB comp going up next year IF you hit the variable comp threshold...but the company says today the NB is going to "slowed down" in some states due to profitability and regulatory issues. And it's a given that variable comp goals will be increased. So who in the heck knows what actual comp will be like. Never seen such total disarray in a company as Allstate. The BOD needs to make some big changes at the top!
