I got first recruiter's email in several weeks.. versus 3-4 daily just a few months ago.. difference couldn't be more stark!
Been interviewing with a large international web technologies company these past couple of weeks, spoke with the recruiter, hiring manager, peer. Got through to the final presentation round, spent hours on research and putting together my presentation and now they are ghosting me. No response to my emails. I'm disappointed that we have well known and trusted companies out there that pull this kind of shenanigans. This is why recruiters get a bad name.
It’ll get worse once you compete against 100s or 1000s colleagues that also got laid off.

The challenge with trying to assess the true state of the market is that so many companies do fake postings, whether they are for resume harvesting or just to make themselves look healthier, but I don't imagine any sizable company's job postings actually reflect their true hiring posture.
