Presumably a company could circumvent the Federal Warn Act by laying off less than 500 people at a time:
"The WARN Act requires employers to give employees 60-day notice when:
Closing a facility will lead to loss of employment for at least 50 employees.
At least 500 employees who work on an employer’s site for 30 days will be laid off. The employees who will be laid off should comprise at least 33% of actively working employees at the employer’s site."

I think the 2018 notice was for an action at Wayne Assembly/Michigan Truck. It lists the City as Wayne. It seems like that wouldn't have been for SRD in Dearborn.
I believe the WARN act for 2019 was in fact filed. It appears in 2018.
Just for reference, there wasn't a WARD filing in 2019 for the SRD.
Me thinks the new company tradition is secrecy. Why? Attempt to avoid negative media coverage, employee outrage and litigation.
Also Attempt to keep Farley the Savior image alive. what layoffs? No mismanagement here, nothing to see.
I really hope they don't drag this out. My guess is that they will be quick as Farley was quick to fire Marketing directors and replace to them when he became CMO. But others do have a point about attempting to avoid the bad press of having 8,000 walking out at once. That would surely make all the national news shows.
Anyone know the process to report a company for not living up to the spirt of the WARN Act by doing multiple small cuts just under 500?
It also has to be a certain number of employees, or a certain percentage PER SITE so if the layoffs are across multiple sites that's another way to skirt. Rest assured that the legal team and HR are involved in every one of these actions making certain they do not exceed what is allowed without WARN. That's every big business in the country. They avoid the big notices unless they absolutely have to do it.
Previous Ford cuts do have Warn noticed. As I mentioned in another post there are only 10 Warn notices published for 2022 for to the entire state of Michigan. No Rivian notice has been published yet. I suspect the notices have been sent but the government is slow to publish.
Yes, but that only applies to a layoff of 500+ direct employees (not contract). I've heard the numbers released are both contract and direct, and it's highly unlikely they'll do it in one big swoop. This will be ongoing for months to avoid the WARN act, and in hopes many retirement eligible employees go that route (it's really their best option as well).
BGC has advised other companies to do many smaller cuts, as well as frequent employee evaluations to provide support for the cuts. The logic is to stay under the public’s radar oh buy our products, we support US workers and also to stay out legislatures notice keep giving us handouts, we support US workers
