Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Each person should do what is best for them

I don't like universal advice such as "It's best for everyone to just leave this joke of a company". Yes, it is true that most people are much better off since they left NetApp, but I know several who have regretted it, not because they left NetApp, but because they left at the wrong moment, not waiting for better options, but accepting worse ones because of the mass hysteria about leaving NetApp as soon as possible.

With layoffs, sometimes you don't have choice. You get the ax you get the ax. THat said, do the best you can do. Prepare yourself if you think you need it or not. Take advantage of education assistance. Get certified. To NetApp's credit, if you do get the ax you do get a package. Once could argue about the size, but it's still better than nothing. I know I had to initially take something I wasn't that enthused about to keep the lights on, but I eventually did land in a much better place.

I agree. Not every company is a good match for every person. I was on an interview panel the last few weeks and one of the candidates worked here at NetApp 6 or 7 years ago. He left to go to a competitor and admitted the grass was NOT greener. Obviously he was looking to come back to NetApp.

I don't get it. Why are (ex-)
NetApp'ers complaining about it? They could have know what kind of company they are working for : https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1002047/000120677422001845/ntap3995021-def14a.htm

Well said, measure your options carefully, there are worse places out there. At least NetApp pretends to be nice.
