I was laid off in August 2020. Best thing that ever happened to me. Motivated me to get an actual career, and I'm in such a better place than I could have ever been. My advice is when your day comes, take the damn severance

I worked for Sears for 20+ years and had to deal with the layoff BS for 19 of those 20 years. It sucks but if you take the time to build a network and keep in touch with former coworkers and peers in other industries, everything will work out. Why? Because it has to. I was devastated when I finally got the boot from Sears but I found new job doing a similar thing in another industry. I had no idea how toxic the environment was and what a toll it took on my health until I left. Best wishes to everyone, try keep a positive attitude, and things will work out!
