It wasn't like that before. Competencies and skills used to be valued more. Now the NOV treats those who are the most capable the worst. Managers are afraid of such employees, aren't they? I have no other explanation.

The only thing Houston service is competent at is hanging out under a desk!
Houston service controls techs are somehow considered competent but still have to have Norway do thier job! They are competent at being on a rigs payroll running up dayrate!

Don't forget about the Katy Yachy club! They take a level 1 but we all know what your really good at!
If you are actually good at your job you don't go to work very often! Thats because they don't want you to fix anything! Then they can't contune to charge the customer a giant dayrate to be on the rig!
Instead they send the guys that have no idea what they are doing, can't make a choice for themselves, have to call the office for everything, which is hilarious because the office is a joke! All because the longer the job takes with the most incompetent person the more dayrate they can charge!
If your working alot then guess what kind of tech you are! If your on a rotation thats just as bad! They need a body on a rig and if you could fix anything they would need you and wouldn't let you go!
What is the point of being competent when upper management doesn't care. Only non-competent people climb the corporate ladder in this company.
