Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Steve Fernandez out

Word is some big shake up in NY resulted in Steve Fernandez's ouster. Due to unexpected costs of cloud and unrealistic time lines to migrate for AWS and Azure? Anyone else hear the same?

The one pleasure I get from this is hearing how mad JR is and how pi---d PZ will be when he learns the truth. Then again, he may not care. Haven’t heard anything lately about the L&R separation either, except they are not close to finishing the work.

Mr L’Oréal was over his skis on cloud migration and routinely hid the truth from JR. And who thought moving IS to Accenture was a good idea. Accenture is expensive and their support is horrible. Look at all the P1 and P2s since they took the reins

Well you let go off your skipped in house IT and infrastructure staff for Accenture and whatever snake oil they were peddling and this of what you get. Integrating legacy aig systems with cutting edge cloud technology and modern operating systems is very difficult.

Also Claims CTO left last week as well. Guess this cloud and Accenture plan isn't working out as anticipated. I think just about anyone could have guessed that.

You cant shove a round peg through a square ho-e. Get out while you can! GI is doomed. None on my team can support the apps they gave us, no one left around and unable to rewrite and cant work in Aws. Not worth the anxiety.

Not surprised as all our new desktops suck a%# and were down for a week this last month. How do they expect us to compile in azure for my aws code base? Even copying over adds more time and barely have the space without adding more time to delete other active projects. The brainiacs who thought up this genius move are long gone I bet. Save $$? At more labor costs or wasted labor costs doing more with less.

Our team has been struggling to move our apps to AWS, and reduce hosting costs at same time. We have reduced our redundant systems to singles to reduce and scaled down system resources. The charges are still too high. The buzz at lunch was Steve was removed for a more cloud centric IT head. We are never going to reduce charges enough and most of my team work as little as they can just to keep a paycheck and not be kicked off project.

I did not hear this but, I would not be surprised since cloud integration has been "challenging". You reap what you sow
