Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Know your rights

Remember, you do not have to accept a new position at a vendor to Allstate, even if offered to you. It is your decision who your employer is, not anyone else’s.

You accepted employment at Allstate, not company XYZ. If Allstate terminates you — even to go to company XYZ where Allstate says that it has arranged a job for you — you are entitled to say “no, thank you” and take your severance instead.

The “substantially the same position” language does not apply if the company with the “substantially the same position” is not Allstate.

Bottom line: if you VOLUNTARILY agree to accept a job from company XYZ because Allstate asked you to, you lose your Allstate severance and are then covered by company XYZ’s severance policy, which is likely less generous.

Know your rights.

So areas are going to be shifted to the vendor while other areas are straight laid off with severance. The most of claims will be laid off with severance except for FNOL who are being shifted to employees of the vendor. CCC will predominately be shifted to the vendor. ASDU will be mainly laid off with severance. ATSC will remain as is as most have already been quietly shifted overseas. Same with policy administration although there will be some notable reductions there. This looking to impact the majority of U.S. based workers within the next 6-12 months. It will make national news I guarantee it.

They are also not required to pay severance

If there is any slimy loophole way that this company can somehow sc--w us out of severance Allstate's army of lawyers has found it and know how to use it.

And with COBRA or AFA costs and the massive taxation of the severance it is not as glamorous as many make it out to be. It goes pretty quick. Even for tenured employees who get their bigger cut.

Deeper pockets. Yes. Always win. Not a true statement.

Sure thing- I’ll take legal advice from a front line claim rep. My advice is that you should always remember that Allstate has deeper pockets than any employee. They never lose
