Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Cuts...

The only card that corporate higher ups have is cost cutting and layoffs will inevitably happen at some point this year keeping alive the tradition of yearly layoffs for the past 3 or 4 years.

Why wait for layoffs to happen to look for new jobs ? Looking for new opportunities while having an existing job is much less stressful plus competition is relatively lower since your other laid off colleagues are not looking at the same jobs at the same time. Just my 3....M .....cents

True my case tech folks were given promotions for story telling in invention submissions and making pretty PowerPoints. Good luck to those for finding jobs in the tech industry.

The problem is some technical folks would have a hard time sitting and prepping for tech interviews, given that the way tech work was done in 3m was nothing like how it’s done in the tech industry.

And the worst bit is folks were treated like executives in the company and would demand that from their future role. Getting such roles will be way tougher.

Must prep in advance else won’t get a good job. Takes a good 4-6 months for a SW job.

Once recession fully dials in, opportunities will be way more scarce.
