Tmobile Internal Transfer

Has anyone been able to change their team at T-Mobile?

If yes, please describe the steps and how your manager handled it (supportive? hostile)??? I know that the manager gets notified as soon as you apply for an internal role and I would not be surprised if they were to be unhappy.

I am not in a happy place right now. The team is slow, people are not interested in work, the manager is not a mentor and frankly her IQ is fairly low - there is very little you can learn from her.

The pace of work is unrealistic, the expectations are nuts, we are being pushed all the time - it's nuts. And in all this chaos, there is very little that's being completed. We get these insane deadlines but then the output is so low. People are so heavily matrixed, they are on multiple projects, nobody cares any more. Stretched thin.

It's so chaotic I am getting physically sick - I'll have to do something about this. Either I'll internally transfer or I just need to leave the company.

Thanks :-)

You all are trying to swap seats on the ‘Titanic’.

If you are from subcontinent and ended up in Bellevue, you cannot transfer. You will need leave the company. Many Indian Managers will not play that game

My manager said - I invested this much time in you. Why would I want to lose out on my investment?

They won’t let me transfer. I asked and they seemed supportive but it’s a lie.
TFB. Gotta love it.

Your boss and mine sound similar.

And don't forget "Workforce Transformation", that complete lie of a control process aka keep who we want, where we want them...or don't.

Apply, a panel (interviews you) may even suggest (aka you probably qualify but we need a sneaky reason to say no) a different job (you didn't apply for, may not want and likely won't get either).

But keep trying, don't give up! Hamster wheel.

Told my manager 2 months ago I wanted to career path to a specific team, the team pays more and is a pretty desired on. She kept telling me that if I left it would add more workload for her, I have been a senior for quite awhile and took on way more work than you normally should have as I do a lot of her job.. Anyhow she went out of her to make it so I wasn't able to (and never had time to) shadow with the new team. When it came time to interviewing I nailed the interviews but found out she trashed me to one of the interviews. Needless to say, I am trapped on this team. My feedback from my interview is that I need to "network and build relationships at home before moving up right now" meaning within the team I am on now. I am definitely quitting, this feedback was given 3 days ago, what a cr-p company. She actually talked horribly about me to prevent me from moving up so she didn't have to actually work.

I looked at a couple of folks who got noticed back in April. None were moved to another position internally, although a couple had some very marketable engineering skills. All now show as terminated. Because all were over 40.

You are supposed to inform your direct leader if you apply internally, they’ll be informed immediately anyway. My leaders have only ever used that conversation to discourage me from applying.
