Does anyone have an STM that not only doesn't know what you do, but wouldn't understand it, technically, if you explained it?

It's in the corporate constitution.
Another peculiar institution.

Quite frankly, that's the rule, not the exception. Just reflect a bit about it: they've been selected as SDMs exactly because they have very few (not to say none) technical skills.
