I find it funny that when I'm needed to do extra work, to stay longer, to come in on my day off, then we're all one big happy family and that's why I should help out. When I need something, when I need to leave early, when I want to be paid for my work properly, then it's a big no and it's suddenly just business, don't take it personally. Actually what the OP wrote IS common in large companies. Just look at some of the other companies posts and you will see.
The people who think the OP is just a whiner and that they way BBB treats their associates is the industry norm is completely out of touch with reality. No matter where you work you should feel appreciated and want to work hard because you know you are. If you are fine knowing the company does not care about you whatsoever and use the ridiculous excuse of "It's like this everywhere" then you are a sad individual. It is in fact not like this everywhere and many companies put their associates first and actually hold company-wide meetings to get a pulse of their workforce and listen to feedback and act upon it.

As they got rid of the older upper management they got rid of the pride and the appreciation that went along with them. The newer Ivory Tower are a bunch of individuals pulling all the store teams in different directions. They have no idea how to work as a team and obviously they have no dominant leader to show them the ethical and bed bath & Beyond way.
OP has every right to complain! If you don't like it, why don't YOU go away-----and stay there.
Loyalty and rewarding hard work doesn't matter within this company. This is a good entry-level retail position if you want experience as a lead/manager but outside of that there is a lot left to be desired. Sad as there are a ton of great workers within the company.

This is so very accurate OP! The company has always expected loyalty and encouraged associates to go the extra mile----but BBBY shows them no loyalty at all and treats them like pawns,
