Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Hey Lucy!

Why don't you care about diversity? Why don't you care about Juneteenth? Why can't I have a day off to reflect? You said AIG loves DEI. You said you cared. You obviously do not.

Stop the fake virtue signaling. No one is buying it.

Agreed. AIG talks a good game about hiring diverse candidates. They interview very few diverse candidates and they hire even fewer. AIG is all talk, no action. Worse, they plan to lay off a significant number of employees after the IPO is completed in favor of outsourcing those roles. This will affect both AIG employees and Corebridge employees in a significant layoff.

This board is a circus because AIG is a circus led by Petey the clown and his merry crew.

Folks who make every subject have a racial lens are the racists. My family figure and died in the civil war fighting against slavery, and a couple of them are buried in Arlington.
l there are some really, really d-mb people at this company at really really high levels. and some of them are DEI hires, others are like 99% of AIG leadership, white males.
Makes me laugh when I hear their vain attempts to sound like they have a clue.
Commenter above stated “you’re considered a racist if you ask a question”. That just supports the true racists’ argument that people of color can’t cut it.
This board is becoming a circus, and at least one poster would like to see free speech curtailed, unless it’s their speech of course.

There is no such thing as reverse discrimination, discrimination is discrimination. Remember that on your crusade to rid the world of injustice.

Yeah conceivably inclusion could work the other way too. In reality- I know reality is tough- the same resume with an ethnic sounding name has less likelihood of getting an interview than the non ethnic sounding name. Check out the studies before the next whining session about reverse discrimination.

Logic's not that tough by the way.

It is funny how the minute you ask a question you become a racist. We want inclusion as long as you agree with everything we say and never try to understand how it works. What we say is right and if you don't agree you are excluded. Brilliant concept!

What if you have a non-white manager and a non-white coworker gets promoted over a white guy. Is that diversity or getting a pass because you are non-white?

I'm just trying to understand how inclusion works because it seems to just work one way.

I know logic is tough.

Just a whiner who likes how it was a few decades ago and can't adjust to the current decade

It's so cute how for decades and centuries people discriminate against certain groups with actions like exclusion from jobs, schools, etc. And the second DEI is around it's discriminatory to even talk about the impact of discrimination.

Clearly you either like putting words in people's mouths or you're lacking reading comprehension.

There are plenty of people of all groups who are competent and work hard.

There are also people who get a pass or get extra because they have something more in common with the boss than others, and if you deny that you're just naive.

Um, The Webster Dictionary definition of inclusive = "Including everyone."

So your definition of inclusion is including everyone except white guys because if you are a white guy you got your job because you are white and a slacker.

That doesn't sound one bit uninclusive does it?

It is at least nice that someone is being honest about DEI. Thanks for coming clean.

It's not uninclusive to point out that members of privileged groups get a pass, if they do.

Wow, that doesn't sound very inclusive to me. Sounds like we are singling out one group. I thought we were all equal?

The real goal of DEI is that incompetent or slacker white males don't get to keep their jobs just because they look more like leadership than the others. That's why it's not so popular among that demographic. It doesn't matter why you're slacking - you could have a sympathetic reason like hard work doesn't get recognized.

What exactly is the "Real Goal" of DEI?

You are on this site because you understand AIG is not a well company. Most of you are worried you will be layed off soon or outsourced.

Exactly how much revenue has DEI generated for this company? I have known many black, brown and white people that have been shown the door over the years. I think anyone will tell you DEI doesn't save you when AIG decides you are no longer needed.

If you want a feel good job go be a social worker. Selling insurance pays the bills. Hopefully Accenture or Gallagher Bassett will care about your feeling?

OP, are you even non-white? I'm guessing you are a white male that just wants to distract DEI from the real goals

AIG exists for one reason and that is to sell insurance. That's it. Period.

Corporations should not get involved in political or social movements. Most people believe in treating each other fairly, but having certain views crammed down your throat day after day is no way to run a corporation. You know why? Because it is never enough. You can never satisfy everyone as is proven by this post.

In my department we literally have people that have made DEI their full time job. The job they actually get paid for has become secondary. They join committees, attend seminars, some even present at seminars. They constantly send emails so everyone knows how involved they are in the movement. It is all very nice. You know what they don't do? Their job. And you know what the consequences are for not doing their job? Nothing, because it is DEI.

Stop the madness.

I'm a person who's considered "diverse" in multiple ways. Giving a day off for Juneteenth isn't the way to show you believe in DEI. Showing you believe in DEI means that you make sure employees are treated equally and fairly and respectfully.

If you had a choice between having off Monday or a salary adjustment that was more than 1%-2% which would you take? Oops, almost forgot, we don't have a choice and neither are an option.

Yes, should be a celebration for the fact that a Union Cavalry Troop at the end of the Civil War, rode all the way to Texas to let 250,000 Slaves know that they were Free!

Free because a group of AMERICANS laid down their lives because they felt Slavery was wrong!

Day of Celebration for ALL AMERICANS!

Hey PZ, better go back to the old playbook and write a nice check to the NAACP to take the heat off. A few more seminars and a lot of feel good stories on the Contact page wouldn't hurt either. He-l, you might even have to allow another person of color on the Board to fix this one?

Look people we gave you a random day off for wellness. Didn't you see the story on Contact? We were voted the most caring workplace in the universe. Do you know how much it costs to get that vote?

You know we care about Juneteenth because we said we did. Just because we don't care enough to give you a day off doesn't make us bad people. It just makes us hypocrites.

Now get back to work on Monday and be happy you work for a company that consistently says the right things even if we don't really believe it.
