Should I be worried about layoffs in TSD&O. Manager said we’re down sizing but it “shouldn’t” impact my team. There aren’t too many people in my team we’re about 6 people

Network Technology on the IT side. RSMs (termed) and RAMs (option to go to ME) in retail stores.

Inflation is up, our costs are up, wages are up.

Yet, we cannot raise prices, so something's gotta give.

Enter layoffs...

Hi All - who's being cut and where? Disclaimer: I work for Verizon, just monitoring how things are going as we are preparing for layoffs too

Its shouldnt have been a surprise to anyone, but my sympathies to those who were let go. Still lots of store overlap, but with CDMA shut down and Sprint 3G turning off at the end of July the Sprint sales channel goes away. So its just one sales channel and time to rationalize facilities, staff, and backend infrastructure dedicated to it.

Wait so they are letting go of Managers at T-Mobile owned stores. Glad I'm a TPR manager right now, the lower pay seems to be worth it.

I promise, this is not a L-T, L-S grenade, yes they lied. Pre and post merger. Both sides. Execs took the money and ran just as the stakes (investors, competition) got more intense.

It's so amazing how company's (most), want employees to be loyal to THEM (aka as love us, think less and just do what we say), until they don't really need you (layoffs, take care).

I actually think the "my life is ruined" post is click bait. If it isn't that person had/has problems that a company, job or message board won't fix.

Regarding "inflationary pressures vs raising prices", please, please open your eyes. Put the kool-aid glass down. Employment is transactional. Nobody owes anybody anything. All those "we love you temperature taking surveys"? Are not for your benefit. Don't fall in love....with a company or job. Never been a person born that wasn't, isn't replaceable.

To the 17 year tenured manager, first, sorry to hear about your layoff. I too was impacted a few months ago. But what stands out to me about your post is that you were ok with what the company did to your friends, family, and coworkers and defended them, but now are upset and think your life is ruined because it happened to you? Maybe if there were less people like you that stood by these last several months and spoke up about how wrong ALL of what the company is doing, you and your peers might not have been impacted yesterday.

That being said, for those that STILL flock to twitter to post their “magenta-love” JUST STOP. No one cares anymore, it’s not what it was and don’t buy in to the hype that “these are growing pains” and “once we get through this we’ll be a better stronger company.”

WE were all lied to. They kept this going through Covid for the positive PR and put our lives, our families lives, etc in jeopardy all while telling us how great we are and how much they value us. For those tenured folks, I know y’all are with me in just looking at all this and being like “damn, WTF has become of the company we loved.”

Funny how that happens the day after the one voice survey closes out…

17 years at the company, 17 years and I got let go. Absolutely heartbreaking. I defended T-mobile through all the terrible things that they were doing, laying off and mistreating my friends and family. There is no excuse for laying me off though, a top performing manager, what is wrong with you? My life is ruined

I worked in Financial Planning and left T-Mobile a few months ago. Jon Freier was pressured to make all these cuts last year. To his credit, he wouldn’t do it despite the pressure he got. Something must have changed this year that made him cave. I’m sure they are feeling the inflationary pressure and instead of raising customer prices, they are having to attack the cost structure. There is hundreds of millions of dollars in supply chain and shipping-related costs that have to be exploding.

That email. We need less people in the back and more people in the front helping customers. Bro, I don’t know what one store you visited was doing but have a hearty F you.

Confirming RSMs and RAMs in multiple states getting the call. So Freier the Liar once again “if you work IN a store your job is secure.” He really needs to start adding “for now” with all his comments. Good luck with customer experience in stores … who wants to give their best to a company that lies right to the faces of their employees.

What group?

This is the end of the 2 month window for those who got pink slips in Network Technology back in April...so those folks are going.
