They never had to work real work or hard. Clearly.
I think some missed the person's point. Respect someone who knows how to do something different than others. Please don't think that anyone is better than anyone else or deserves more than anyone because of what they do.
Based on @aib’s logic if you don’t play a musical instrument you could not insure a musician? He barely finished HS and was lucky to be employed at SF. He somehow thinks playing with some sort of machinery raises his IQ over 85.
@1aib….MIGHT be valid if all we did was insure heavy equipment operators.
But probably not. If I need a basement dug, I don’t look for a backhoe operator with an insurance background. And when he needs insurance, he’s not asking about my time on a bulldozer. We’re a world of specialists.
@1lucg. Simple. If you can't do manual labor or you don't know anything about the people you insure nor respect them, you most likely don't understand service nor the people you insure.
Case studies for Orwellian crew? Bring it on.
@1ucg: There are some really odd people who post here. They would make interesting case studies.
While you are at it could you ask him to explain the “comments are a directed verdict in the conversation” part too?

Trying to figure out why operating heavy equipment is a critical skill in the insurance business???
@1jwo. Cold day. If I ever sat down and talked with Ed I would show him I out produced anyone on my team and in my region with documentation to evidence such. Ed would be proud of the work ethic I had. Ed would also welcome me in the shop with my knowledge of heavy equipment, hydraulics, gear ratios, etc. I still to this day am very proud he ran the ship. I'd tell him that and I'd tell him I'm not proud of the ja----s running the show now. The difference between me and the others is I am not and will never be a kiss a-s. Ed is no different than anyone else. The best asset of any company is it's people. Misuse or abuse them and it is costly. Remember that.
You disrespect Ed with your every word. He would be embarrassed you ever worked for SF. You should kiss the logo every morning. But if not kma.
I know who you are too. Don't much care. I really dont care what you think because I respect Ed. What I don't respect is what YOU did to those poor souls in operations that day in and day out put their heart and soul into the customer. Those folks and the customers deserve much better than hate to go into work, deal with micromanaging, metrics etc only to be given cookies for a 100 year anniversary. I would say that to Ed. I was very proud I worked for them and remember every benefit I got I earned. Nothing was given to me. Your plans are a failure and the very least you could do is apologize to all those you forced away from their family. Heros are those who put the oxygen mask on for someone else before they put theirs on. You are not a hero. You think you are but most of the heros are on the battlefield. USAA might teach you that.
@xdy-Ed would never say derogatory comments about SF like you. He would never berate and insult agency like you. He never call anyone at SF a pervert like you. Yes I KNOW exactly who I am talking to.
@vod. You must get off belittling someone you don't have a clue talking to. Your comments are a directed verdict in the conversation. Only a grade school grad would do that to themself.
No one is calling Ed d-mb. He was an excellent CEO for over 30 years. And unlike you he had a college degree, a law degree and an MBA. He is on Caterpillar Board and enjoyed working with his hands after being behind a desk all week. You have nothing in common with Ed.
Who are you kidding @whl the only heavy equipment you are around is the Mrs.
@IRS and @ayc. False, false, and false. BTW I know mechanics who made very high six digit incomes and are retired millionaires with better benefits than what SF gave and if mechanics are so d-mb and have only a HS education, why would Ed Rust be photographed next to heavy equipment and a tool box? Would you call him d-mb. I wouldn't. I'd keep my mouth shut, respect the man and learn from him. Something that has been lost @ SF leadership over the past 40 years.
@whl-the fact you are HS grad that was blessed with a 40 year employment should suffice. Otherwise you would have been at the local garage making half the income with none of the benefits you are enjoying now.
@whl-not that I would want to but it would just reinforce your low intellect and the fact you are a DA and full of yourself and BS.
@hae. If you spent one day with me on the 200 yard range, you sure wouldn't say I am not a straight shooter. OR if you want, one day with me around heavy equipment instead of next to your stapler. You'd learn.
Remember when Jay Leno would do predictions as Nostradumbass?
@hae Give me enough money and I will produce a statistical survey to say anything you want.
Another doozy of a prediction from the gang that can’t shoot straight. According to latest industry (not SF) exclusive agents produced the highest customer satisfaction, followed by independent agents with direct bringing up the rear…..Everyone will be driving an EV before agents disappear, if then….
LOl-you we’re predicting SF was going to fall to 3rd or 4th in the industry a few years ago. Instead they widened their lead…stay away from gambling….
