Are we really saving money by sending American jobs overseas?

It is a nightmare to those of us that deal with GBS. Seriously affects mental health at times.
I left the company, dealing with GBS is a nightmare....it's like an additional step in the working process without getting any concrete support. For supplier set-ups as an example, they are supervising and telling you what you should do (what you already know if you follow the guidelines). Real savings would be GBS is taking over the full process and responsabilities but it's not the case. I mean GBS would get for example a supplier email and it deals directly with the supplier, processing all necessary steps for the supplier creation...it's not everytime there is an issue they come back to you...if they are asking you for a clarification they will send you every day a reminder and will fill your inbox...a real nightmare.
My department went GBS about 2 years ago. It was like watching a train wreck on replay. And a total language barrier. My manager was frustrated beyond any meaning. Couldn't predict costs to save his life because GBS was a mess. So are they really saving money & benefits? Depends on who you ask. Corporate will say yes and field level management will scream no.
Always remember “(salaried) overtime is free”
There’s snark in that, sure - but truth as well. Outsourcing (what GBS is, despite the protestations of the Transformation Clowns) leads to less efficiency and effectiveness. If that results in some salaried people having to work more to make up for it, well, so what? Flip them a Smiles Award and you’ll feel better.
Mexico gets paid $700 a month — level 6 ! It doesn’t matter how many mistakes they make. It doesn’t matter how long it takes to train them. $700 a month with vacation after one year and you’ll never hear them complain like the spoiled Americans.
they will save the money when they let more people go-admins, HR payroll admins
Right...
Of course. These are all jobs that don't need to be done well, they just need to be done well enough. Arguably some of them don't really need to be done at all.
