Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Thoughts? Do These Statements Regarding EMTEC Pass the Funny Look Test?

In the few months since taking on my new role as president of ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering Company, I’ve developed an immense appreciation for the depth of knowledge that our team possesses.

While meeting and speaking with hundreds of our dedicated scientists and engineers, I have often found myself leveraging this quote from Sir Isaac Newton: “If I have seen further, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants.”

Our technology leaders truly are the strength behind our mission of developing energy solutions. Here’s a quick look at the expertise that makes up this talented organization:

✅ Approximately 4,000 engineers and scientists

✅ 88,000 years of cumulative experience

✅ ~1,000 master’s degrees

✅ ~1,000 Ph.D.s

I’m proud to share my admiration for this team. We have in place the right people with experience from diverse fields and an impressive array of degrees (from earth sciences, physics, toxicology and aeronautics to every kind of engineering and chemistry discipline).

Over the coming months, I plan on introducing you to some of our technology leaders by sharing their backgrounds and, in general, explaining what makes them tick.

Because I firmly believe that no one has gotten where they are all on their own, I’m particularly curious to know who initially sparked these leaders’ interest in STEM studies. (In my case, it was my third-grade teacher, Mr. Harris, who showed me that math could be fun instead of just memorization.)

So, stay tuned for future LinkedIn posts featuring the engineers and scientists who keep the ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering Company at the forefront of innovation.

5000 emtec employees, ok, that does not mean 4000 are scientists and engineers. Perhaps 4000 have science and engineering degrees, that does not mean they work in that role, totally misleading. Have you seen the number of planner in this new crazy organization? And VPs and managers and supervisors and techs….

@1jju+1hfQrhKj ... common folks...
You can have your opinions about mgmt and leaders, but you can't say she's lying about numbers.
Anyone can go into CareerConnect org chart today and see the no. of people in each organization. EMTEC alone has close to 5000 employees ...not including contractors. 4000 scientists and engineers checks out. Also, any one familiar with the old research orgs (EMRE and URC and Chem tech) know we recruited mostly masters and phDs into those areas.

I'm actually MORE surprised that we ONLY have 1000 phDs in EMTEC...I would have assumed quite a lot more quite honestly

The number are there... just look in CC

Linda is just plain and simply lying. There aren't 4,000 scientists and engineers here at EMTEC. There might be 500, but not 4,000 FOR SURE. Almost all young researchers (under 30 or 35) are gone. Most mid career tech people have resigned, are interviewing with other companies, or are about to resign. Older technical people, say older than 50, are just waiting to reach 55 or the 15 years with the company so they can retire. The scientists and engineers that are still with the company are incredibly depressed, they would just leave if they could, and see no future and, honestly, no reason to keep working hard. No matter how hard you work, how much energy you put, nothing will get done. So, all that she wrote on LinkedIn is a lie. That simple.

This makes me laugh. It was only months ago that I heard from so called leaders that depth of technical skills is no longer valued here. No career path. Dead end job.

She forgot about the Artificial Intelligence group.
Oh... wait...

The most amusing part to me is external parties often assume EMIT is part of EMTEC. The fact that it isn’t tells me all I need to know about an EMIT career.

Does this include KLTC? Or are they disposable?

I just read that original on there too. She's been busy... Far busier than me!

You folks in EMTEC are super lucky, for those of us in Global Projects we're about as valued as my dog. #fungible
