Our store is barely functioning as is because there is not enough staff (who actually do all the work). I don't understand how things will continue to function if there are even more cuts?

Share-holder and former long-term employee here. Agree that regional, area, any/all levels of talent acquisition need to be cut. Regional offices in particular need thinned out. We don’t need whole entourages of regional or even divisional people flying around in corporate jets to take selfies and hand out stupid patches in the stores, much less the ones all the way in Hawaii or Alaska. Regional protection plan manager? Why on earth do we need a position like that? District in-home services manager? Talent acquisition for corporate tech? Secretaries and phone-answerers in the regional offices? Same thing. These kind of positions need to be eliminated.
Totally agree with Pop-Toast's comments below- spot on. District/Market/Regional staff needs a HUGE culling of the herd. What value do they bring to the store level and the hardworking associates? Words taken from an old school Store Manager who was fired for bogus reasons- "There aren't any cash registers at the District/Market/Regional level, only overpaid management that do not contribute to my store's bottom line"
Lowe's doesn't need Six Figure people to travel around the country/state/district on 'store walks' taking selfies with 'rOcKsTarS' (hate that term) while posting on LinkedIn. Not just the bloated salary's but the insane amount of money for their travel (Airfare/Mileage/Hotels/Meals) just to take pictures and post them on social media. I don't need to tell you all how horrific the conditions the stores are in- Understaffed, Underpaid, Filthy bathrooms, lousy outdated equipment, unsafe working conditions- the list can go on.
So as someone with some knowledge; if the stock price continues on the downward market, more cuts are in place to happen. Right now on the chopping block are IHC, Specialists, any Regional staff that doesn't have direct reports, and some of the remote work positions. Additionally, stores will see a loss of a ASM and Supervisor position, based on store sales volume.
Stores also within a 20 mile radius of another store, will see closures, and remaining stores will go to majority self checkout. There will be a person to watch 8 units, and that's it except for the garden cashier. Pro service associates will be expected to run the lumber registers daily
It wont be in the stores - it will be the millions of fat layers they have (Regional, corp staff). They overhired during covid in those areas - realignment always happens in August.
Marvin doesn't care - why should you. Work your shift, take your breaks and go home when your shift is finished. No more - no less. Rinse and repeat
