New to this forum, can someone guide me if there are going to be recession based layoffs on top the usual layoffs that happen every now and then?

We’ll I’ve seen a couple ‘I’m moving on emails” both long time employees, one manager .. the manager’s departure was announced by their boss .. so I dunno , maybe got axed. Severence pkg restrictions are common place btw..
Our group is hiring, has 5+ open reqs. Ic college grads.. cloud , but not really; spaghetti code maintainers tbh .
Rolling layoffs? 500?!? But where are the goodbye emails? Severance package prohibit same?
We don't really know exactly what groups were affected. During the month of May - every Tuesday different groups were impacted. I would say it had to be over 500 because it triggered the WARN act. Someone previously speculated that it was 850 to 900 - this could be true. It was definitely under 10% or 1,000 or they would have had to report it. I feel like they are doing their best to keep this top secret (hence weekly layoffs - rather than one day where everyone is notified and the whole company is talking about it). I have read a lot about layoffs at other companies recently and there is absolutely no mention of what is happening at NetApp so I guess they did a good job of keeping it under wraps for the most part.
“Since they just completed the usual layoff” - there was a layoff? What groups were affected? Also how many?
My impression is that leadership are trying to get people to leave on their own now. The sales quotas are ridiculously high and designed to create churn. Since they just completed the usual layoff - it seems unlikely they would do anything else in the short term.
