Thread regarding Raytheon Co. layoffs

Corporate Move

Now that the new company corporate HQ is moving from Ma to VA what happens/happened to the legacy RTN corporate people ? They are not part of the 4 new Business Units but were they absorbed into one of the BU? Corporate was scattered throughout the country and not just located in Waltham. Just wondering what happened to those people if UTC took over corporate with their own people and functions.

UTC was not a big company at the corporate level, Raytheon, however WAS.a huge at the corporate level. Everyone I know who worked for corporate still works for corporate (most all of them work remote positions) so they are all over the country.

Many Corporate people moved into open positions at Collins and Pratt, a lot of those people have shuffled into RMD and RIS. The layoffs after the merger affected BU level people primarily, btw - those layoffs came with a 2 year full salary severance package.

I used to work with RTN corporate IT folks in Waltham, Tucson and Plano. I am now retired and wondering what happened to them too after the merger. One IT guy in Tucson mentioned before I left that he did not know what was going to him and his group.

I don't think people on this thread would know. Employment at that level is considered Proprietary. However, if you pay attention to the open-source news and internal emails you can get the big picture that the merger had a lot of doubling up on positions, and who ended up getting pushed out because of it.

There are also the legal people leaving now that there are SEC and DOJ investigations.

Watch the cockroaches run!

So other than the exec's all or most of the RTN corporate look people got laid off?

The cut and dry reality is that Corporate people get paid well at their level, and have great contractual separation/retirement packages.
In short...They only have to work if they want to.

I think the original question is about the corporate employees not the executives. Kennedy sent out an email at the end of 2019 listing executives that have retired to pursue other opportunities. None of the RTN executives got picked up by RTX. But what happened to the RTN corporate employees if they are not part of the new four business units.

Corporate executives don't get laid off in the traditional sense. They take their "parashoot", "Handcuffs" , or whatever you'd like to call it and leave for another friends and family network executive position. Now as far as the move to Virginia......
That has been an Aerospace trend for years. All Aerospace companies began with a small presence in VA as they had a smaller lobbyist crowd to influence Congress. Now they've given up the veneer, move down there in droves, call themselves a SuperPAC, and then pay congress people in "Campaign funds" (as a SuperPAC) to win contracts. Which all is perfectly legal within funding limits. So, its another layer of complexity added with the SuperPACs to make it difficult to find out Congress is being paid off, and how legislation is being written by the lobbyists.

High-level executives have their own little networking culture ala cronyism. A good portion of them make enough where they may not have to work, or take an early retirement.
Frankly, I like to see them humbled and be relegated to delivering pizzas.
