Broadcom says they want to push for subscription transition for vmw products. Do you think they will change their opinion on this after the acquisition is done?

Even though no one wants subscription except shareholders.
It's inevitable that software is being monetized like a loot box as we move to the cloud, but it's a technology transformation that only raises prices for the vast majority of use cases.
Just like those glorious mainframe days of old, cloud is English for 'software on someone else's server'
VMware downfall to a large degree was their inertia moving to a subscription based model. For some mind boggling reason, they never understood the importance of this model. Innovation is just not around technology, but also how customers want to consume it. VMware refused to adopt to their customers needs. Unbelievable when you think about how big of a miss this was. The move to subscription has been underway for 7+ years. The market has spoken.
Someone said who cares, octane will do what he wants, contacts, layoffs again who cares.... all over now, when the aqusition will be done , brcm is like a shark, a s..it shrark...from a former ca middle manager
BC will find a way to start coercing customers to either spend more or dramatically raise pricing. Either way, customers will be pi---d off & look for other options within 3-5 years. By then, VMware will be gutted like a stolen car.
Nope. If AVGO says it is happening, it’s happening. There’s 3 decisions….Agree and commit, disagree and commit or go.
The better question is will Broadcom continue to recognize the flip of perpetual licenses to subscription as new business...
VMW only company I know who can do above and products still don't get activated and remain as shelfware. True story.
No easier to consolidate a lot of sales related people with subscription.
Honestly, who cares. It’s not going to change their plans on cuts and synergies. Whether it’s a 3 year ELA up front or a monthly subscription, they are still going to do what they need to do…
BC are simply accelerating the existing vmw subscription strategy.
No, we were already doing it
