It bothers me terribly, because this was once a company where those with the most expertise were the most valued, and today it is the exact opposite.
Perhaps I'm wrong, but somehow it seems to me that this is becoming a place for the greatest mediocrity? The leadership can be happy that there are still some talented individuals who are here for some reason, but they are in a huge minority.

COP is basically in a "factory" mode or assembly line environment where most of the "engineering work" is basically paper pushing with little to know design or technical expertise required which is why they continue to push into the resource plays and follow the technical achievements of smaller companies that push the envelope. So they don't really need anyone that can think outside of the box because they have basically put themselves into the box and closed the lid shut with all of the processes and procedures they have that essentially eliminate any free thought. The field hands are leaps and bounds more creative than anyone working in the office environment.
Maybe if they raise the pride flag again and all the white people apologized for being white, Conoco would be a stronger company.
Knowledge, creativity, and experience are all looked down upon and have been largely eradicated. We need drones and cogs, not those uppity free-thinkers that question our glorious leadership’s decisions. Now, let’s start planning for next year’s right sizing and next corporate acquisition!
It is a commodity company after all.
Across the board.
And unfortunately people are commodities too.
Tank of phosgene, bale of hay.
