The begining of the end of the conglomerate

Finally 3M breaks up in 2 pieces with Healthcare division to be spun out in 2023. Formal announcement done yesterday after many months of speculation and rumors.

Multiple years of mismanagement at every level, esp the clusterfkuc, w.r.t the PFAS finally took it's toll.

Other divisions will also be broken and separated. Just a matter of time.

It's likely that when HCBG is split off into an independent company, a certain number of shares will be given to shareholders of 3M for each share of 3M they have. After this, shares of 3M will definitely drop because the company is losing billions in annual sales, the BG with the most growth prospects, and the BG with the highest profit margins.

HCBG has its own litigation - Bair Hugger is back at it - but it doesn't seem anywhere near as significant as what "New 3M" is stuck with.

Given the natural choice for a HCBG CEO - Mojdeh - left, I'm guessing the CEO will be outside. Jeff has alluded to as much.

What does this mean for the stock ? Is that considered a split ? The 3m stock will certainly go down after the healthcare segment is split

Almost certainly outside. Still struggling to figure out how this really helps “New 3M.” They keep combat arms ear plug and PFAS litigation, and lose 80% of their most profitable business group. Must be just an opportunity to raise cash that will be desperately needed down the road. Seems like most of the health care folks should be really excited about this move.
