Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Have anyone deal with HR shared service in India?

My last day of work is 8/5 which is also a payday. Do unused PTO included in the last paycheck on 8/5 or it comes separate? It’s so frustrating to deal with HR shared service in India. It’s worse than dealing with AIG Helpless desk. They asked a whole bunch of security question and then just give you generic answers. Then when asked to connect to pension & benefit team, I got disconnect. Can’t wait to get out of this dysfunctional place. Does the company ever worry about data breach when transfer HR service oversea? Our personal identification info are at high risk for identity theft.

All I can say is Good Luck! HR should never be outsourced and its been the most frustrating process dealing with the incompetent people in shared services.

I retired but have had the same issues you are referring to and it held up my pension which I need to meet financial obligations. Retirement is supposed to be a happy time but this process has been extremely tedious and aggravating.

Is there an email address that works for 401k & pension inquiries? I don’t have time to be on hold to talk to someone.

My understanding also is they try to sc--w you over by taxing your unused days as a "bonus" which is a much higher rate than your pay rate . This should be counted at the pay rate since that's how it gets taxed if you took PTO

I too had months of mistakes made by AIG HR Shared Services after I left. I documented every phone call, and it was only when I threatened to sue to obtain the information, that an HR person came on the line and handled the matter, instead of the incompetent shared service personnel. I'm not sure where the shared service people were located. Also, you will rarely get the same person twice, so each time you have to start over explaining what you need. You will get the phone dropped on you frequently, and you will get people calling you asking you whether the matter was completed to your satisfaction, when nothing was done. It is an interesting process. Good luck!

Prepare for months of mistakes. You’re going to be dealing with them for a long time. Keep all of your documentation… probably off your machine that you won’t have access to anymore.

Your last day is 8/5 but your last paycheck will be 8/19 when you will receive your PTO payout.

Updated from me. I finally got a hold of 401k & pension people. I was so happy to have someone in the States answer my questions. I call HR using the toll free number (800) 265-5054. Just listen to the menu and pick the option for 401k or pension. The wait time can be long but at least I have someone in the States pick up my call. I feel like at least people here have more knowledge and can answer any questions I have. May the force be with us so we can all get out of this he-l ho-e.

Calling HR Shared Services is very stressful. The hold time and lack of knowledge from the India personnel is horrible. They cannot think outside the box. If the answer or question is not provided in their script than they cannot provide any assistance.

It was separate for me, I think. You may have a US HR business partner. You can try to talk to them if you like.

Just another example of horrible decision-making at AIG. They moved a critical function like HR Shared Services to Accenture in India. The folks now tasked with helping employees and managing critical HR functions are clueless with extremely high turnover with no HR background. You literally cannot understand what they are saying or writing. The poor judgement and complete lack of understanding of job functions needed to approve this type of horrible decision is staggering. Doublecheck those paystubs & deductions… and when you find an error (because you will) good luck with getting it resolved…
