Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

who this forum represents

For half a decade I was always the reliable person at BMRF/BMCP. Kept a low profile, always responded to emails on time, always got my critical tasks done and always executed on my projects. I got praise and my ranking was always pretty decent. 2020 rolls around and suddenly my work isn't sufficient. Never had a sponsor, never joined and ERG.. just did my work, went home, and enjoyed my life.

I just got my mid-year review at my new job. This review is based on my goals for the year and no one has to represent me in some obscure black mass style ranking meeting. Turns out my new company really enjoys me and what I do for them.

I'd like to think myself as the average XOM employee while I was there. I never really did anything to bring too much attention to myself, I smiled when I had to and got busy when I needed to. Most importantly, I did my job.

All you sponsored people who visit this page for your own amusement live in an XOM bubble and echo chamber. Good for you. Much like many on here, I wasn't chosen like you were. Congrats on your lottery.

For those of you still stuck in the toxic wasteland. Greener grass exists and you can be treated with dignity, respect and truly valued for your contributions.

It seems easy to figure out if a comment comes from a worker Bee or Sponsored person.

To the Sponsored people who do not seem to understand the bu-t hurt worker Bees:

Imagine if you worked harder than your coworkers to achieve greatness, and your teammate was given a trophy and stock bonus even though he did nearly nothing.

Then imagine that after not receiving any praise or reward for your hard work, you were assigned an even more impossible task while the do nothing trophy receiver was flown off to some paradise to a cushy job in which he will put no effort and move upward d again.

Shampoo rinse repeat.

EM has a very political system that rewards the chosen and works certain people harder each cycle without even hope of reward.

Chosen persons are like lottery winners in a system where sponsorship is required just to purchase a lottery ticket.

I know people at BMCP and BMRF that definitely know you and I’m certain that they would say you were a loner. Kept to himself and did the minimum.

You said so in your cry me a river text. When you smile when you have to and work when you have to that’s what you are. At Exxon they want people who will do the job when no one is looking.

Yes it’s a good idea to say hi to managers even if you think they suck. Been good, vg, and two excellents and I’m a re hire. Don’t be a douch #1 rule to not get pip’ed.

OP here. Negative. My brother in-law works there and I don't think that's the place for me. When I was PIP'd, I applied everywhere and hit the jackpot with where I'm at now. Very steady, everyone is great. No ranking. Really allows me to focus on the business and not on the BS.

Sounds like the OP moved to Lyondellbasell.
