Thread regarding GEICO layoffs

Don't panic

Layoffs at GEICO are a fluke. We're doing well and we'll continue to do well. If you're worried, that's entirely on you. If there were cuts, they were needed and I'm betting you it was the low performers who were hit. It has to happen from time to time. Luckily for us, that time to time is not often here. Do what you want with what I said, but I just think people are stressing over nothing.

Geico laid off 400 yesterday. Blamed it on an untrue performance. They were offered a 2 month severance package., even for employees that were with the company for 20+ years.
Geico has become a terrible company.

It was not low preforming people , it was people with at least 30 plus years with high performance records. They were called on the phone and they were axed immediately . This is all about the dollar not performance. No warning of any kind . Cr---y business practices . Shame on upper management. I would not buy insurance from them if they were the last company in business. This has hurt a lot of dedicated employees.

Well this aged like fine wine lol
Only a mo--n would be so arrogant to presume to know the future about what they can’t control.

Layoffs aren't a "fluke" and I agree that post was from someone in management. More layoffs are coming at the first of the year, if not sooner. Part of why I went to work for them even though their overall pay was lower than other insurance companies was because they had never previously laid people off. Things will get worse before they get better. I think Todd Combs was brought in specifically to make cuts (like to a new "better" health plan, yeah, right) and to handle the layoffs. Put your seatbelts on because this was just round 1.

This sounds like a dirty manager providing false information.. They are literally in the process of consolidating the company and laying people off as we speak.

Glad you said “not to panic”. I mean I lost my job, but hey… appreciate you saying things are a “fluke” and fake news.

I am not in panic - Geico jacked up my rate when I moved to another state (area was more expensive), and then jacked it up again when I moved back to the original zip code (area was more expensive!). Switched to one of your competitors, but I'm glad you're doing well.
