Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Kids don't deserve this

I feel bad for the kids who join all excited just to be cut within months of starting for no good reason. I don't understand what's even the point of hiring people if you plan to keep them on for such a short time. They're not even properly trained before they're gone. And by cut, I main laid off, not fired for underperforming. Can somebody shed some light on why this is happening?

“I left and never been happier.” And that’s why I come to this site full of toxicity to check in. LOL!

My advice to anyone working for or planning to work for T-mo get out while you can. I was a product of the merger layoffs a few years ago but accepted a position to stay with tmo only to find continuous rounds of layoffs after layoffs. They wont stop. Start looking now. I left and started up with another company almost 2 years ago and have never been happier. We shouldn't have to constantly live in fear of being let go, theres better companies out there.

It’s a good lesson and will help them out in the long-run.

I know of “kids” right out of college who had offers at the investment banks in 2008. They either had their offers pulled or were laid off within the first few months. They said it was good in the long-run.

Remember, at the end of the day, T-Mobile is a business and not a charity. Business needs/pressures change that they can’t always anticipate at the time of an offer.

Agreed, the takeaway is that while working for a massive company has perks, you are vulnerable because at any time the axe can fall and they will fire the good alongside the bad in order to hit a $ reduction target.
It's not right, but it is reality.
Best to learn that now when you are young and don't have much on the line yet.

It's good that they learn about this early in their career. Sometimes decisions made by others affect your life. And you get no choice about it. And you have to deal with it.
