I had this software package automatically downloaded to my computer this morning. Is anyone aware of its purpose? A quick Google search indicates "PowerBroker for Windows is a privilege management solution that gives you unmatched visibility and control over physical and virtual desktops and servers." Any thoughts? Did everyone get this? Thx

It's SkyNet... Just before termination. Lol. They can spy on those pretending to work from home and out for a cappuccino with their friends.
PAM is essentially a password safe an enables the administrator/root account to be different for every box and unknown until it's checked out by someone authorized to retrieve it and provides a business purpose for doing so. When it's checked back in it's reset to a randomized value. This has been in place on all the Unix servers in our datacenters for over three years, Windows servers not quite as long, and going to all the workstation boxes currently.
TL;DR - this just manages passwords and isn't the user activity monitoring tool you need to worry about
I've had it since I got this new laptop. It's for remote management (automated and manual) of priviledges you have on the laptop. It's not about web traffic tracking, there are other tools to do that. The mgmt is so busy with other headaches nobody cares about our surfing preferences. I do not care, they can fire me if they do not like me reading what I like to read. Oh, yeah, there is always the personal phone for all sensitive stuff needed.
Basically Big Brother
This application is typically always installed on a Ford machine and likely has nothing to do with the layoffs directly. I work in an area where I have multiple Ford laptops and it's on all of them.
It has been installed on PCs/Laptops for a very long time. It is nothing new.
yup - me too . . . Your 'activity' will be logged and analyzed for more than just security - you can 'beyond trust' me on that ! ;)
BeyondInsight is BeyondTrust’s Privileged Access Management (PAM) reporting platform that allows IT and Security teams to have a centralized management, reporting, and analytics console that provides unmatched visibility and control over privileged access activity.
"PowerBroker Desktops is the fastest and easiest way to secure desktops by removing admin rights without end user disruption by selectively elevating privileges."
Yes, we all got it today.
