Thread regarding Ford layoffs

How does termination work?

I'm a new FCG, I got an offer in March and just actually started. I knew new people are usually first to go. I am remote and have never been to the office.

How will it happen? Does my people leader tell me? Is it someone in HR? Is it an e-mail? Do I just suddenly get locked out of everything.

Buy the motorcycle. You will not regret it.

Skip buying a house or car or anything you need a loan for. Get a nice little affordable used bike that gets great gas mileage, it'll pay for itself in fuel savings. Take a safety class too it'll make you a better rider and driver.

FCG’s may not get paid enough. But take into account their average $80k salary plus over $100k Ford is paying for their MBA’s. A ton of money can be saved be removing FCG’s.

FCG are not safe. Maybe statistically more safe than those with 3-6 years in, Maybe statistically more safe than the 20-40 years in. But not safe - don’t be buying a house/car/motorcycle. Save your money.

It was a long time ago - but for the 2008 firings, we had an FCG in our group let go.

Some say it is to blunt the old people firing argument for lawsuits.

FCGs don't get paid enough for their removal to make an impact.

You won't get let go. FCGs are treated like wunderkinds and the future of humanity's best and brightest. No offense to you personally. But the rest of us highly skilled and dedicated workers are basically second class citizens.

If you get a random in-person meeting scheduled on your calendar it's time to be worried. Especially when they request you to bring your laptop and phone ;-) As an FCG you will be fine. Enjoy the front row seat on the dark side of corporate life.

As an FCG, I highly doubt you will be terminated. You are the right talent Ford wants!
