Does anyone know what the policy is for a retirement cake? My 30th I got to invite 6-8 to lunch. Like $200 worth.
200x8000=$1.6M
I wonder if they accounted for that savings?

That Ford cake was awful but it looked nice. White or Chocolate batter. White and blue frosting. Usually, folks ate very small pieces and there was still 1/2 left after the celebration in a conference room. Good times, though. Fond memories.
Or better... when a chief engineer or somebody high up retired some boot li---r would often ask for donations for a gift to be given at a local watering ho-e. A gift for a peer or your department secretary I can see.. but for the manager who does not need anything...
I am glad my 30 yr lunch in 2019 was attended by my wife and coworkers
There is no policy on a retirement cake. The policy is for the number of years of service. If you reach a milestone year (40 years) after you retire in the current year, you will still get your milestone gift and plaque.
I think what the poser was trying to say at one time somebody cared
The new group of LL6s just don't know how much fun it used to be making cars
Are you serious? A bunch of people are going to be on the street soon and you are worrying about a f-ing retirement cake? I hope you get a nice boston cream pie right in the face.
No cake anymore, an email and maybe a bio write-up on a bulletin board.
No thank you for your years of service from Bill Ford or Farley or LL4 or LL3 …
The people to cake ratio is too high.
Retirement cake? That's hilarious!!! When a bunch of us retired in 2020, we all got a boot in the @#$ out the door! No cake!, No gift! Then one year later we were thrown off the Ford retiree medical!
Sadly you ended out working for the wrong company at the wrong point in time.
My first manager in PD was a bright guy, he got promoted to LL4 and retired. His advice in 2001 to our group was to get out of auto. None of us did. One got SRDed, another successfully sued Ford.
You can’t have your cake and eat it too.
The cakes and cookies the cafeteria ladies chefs used to make we’re outstanding. I sure wish the new employees could have experienced that
