Lots of slackers ; Lots of perpetual yak shavers; Few focused and delivering on meaningful tasks.

Yes. We have some "old/senior" men and women who doesn't have clue. Every time during layoffs the hardworking Agency guys were made the scape goat and the slackers continue to milk the system. Pre-covid I have seen the slackers going for grocery shopping on company's time.

Ford is trying to mirror the product strategy of the cell phone. Lots of features but it doesn't fulfill it's primary purpose very long before problems erupt. They are taking the same IKEA-approach with HR. Low paid yes-men who can work long hours BUT these employees generate recalls and regulatory issues at an amazing pace. Not to worry, they are quick to offload responsibility for these debacles to others.

The elephant in the room - the large percentage of non-value add employees.

One group under our LL5 has a purchased service doing literally all the teams work. All of the rest of the employees and agency under the LL6 are useless. The purchased service comes to me (under a different LL6) for help because none of his teammates can or will do work. The purchased service is suppose to be training his teammates, but despite weekly training sessions NONE of them step up to do work in the queue, claiming they haven’t been trained. 6 years this has been going on. The LL6 and his entire team should be fired. ITO BTW. The LL6 plans to coast for another 4-5 years.

Because Ford can't seem to build cars (oh, we don't make cars anymore) and trucks that people want and with great quality is the fault of management and the cutting of quality experienced people that actually know the business. Seems like the only way management knows is cut US employees and replace them with less expensive help. NOT better help. Less expensive. What happens in these cuts are processes are skipped because there are not the right people to do the work. Ford keeps shooting themselves in the foot and management blames everyone but themselves. Ok. Done with the rant.

There are so many Purchased Service and Agency because they've cut so many direct salary over the years that's almost all they have in some areas. Really the elephant in the room are the sheer number of people that have already locked in their retirement and will not retire. 35+ years because they came in after college. Hey, I get it, you are still relatively young but you have yours, think about the remainder of us with the pensions trying to get over the line too. Ford rather has chosen time after time to continue to gut the middle of the ranks. Rather than saying thank you for your service with a gold watch to the pensioners....or, eliminate all the Prch Svc / Agency because they are really Temps to Ford, they go after the mid career. Personally, as soon as I cross the line, out I'm going with hope me leaving let's some of the last with the benefit can cross too.

This reduction is necessary to build the future. The reduction of purchased services is really needed to control costs as well. Ford should cut all marketing PO spending 25% to make a difference. And fire the consultants too!
