Thread regarding VMware layoffs

The best option

We have no belief that our stock will recover to $140 (or above) in the forseeable future.

So, the best option is to take the payout, enrich ourselves, because we have no ability to run this ship to the stars.

Oh, and by the way, Mikey in the Dell wanted to wring the turnip one more time and extract more cash. And since he owns most of the stock, we had to do this.

Dell’s acquisition was paid by VMware.

I agree with the person saying tell your children to stay away from tech. no work life balance - definitely no diversity- layoffs concerns always. Change of jobs is frequent.

I should probably stop coming to this web site because all it does is make me angry. I have been in this industry for over two decades and have started to lose count of the number of companies I have been at. With the exception of one company where I voluntarily left, the rest were situations where I had to find a new job because of situations like the one we now face at VMware. So off to find yet another new job. I am so over it.

If there are any of you who have kids.... tell them to stay away from the tech industry unless they like changing jobs every few years.

Hope everyone is starting to look for a job outside. Even if you do survive and make the list at Broadcom, you'll be working like a horse with pay cut. Let's face it, broadcom is not going to keep people who make over $180K base or $200K for company (since $20K is probably for benefits). You still have a few months to train yourself. Everyone should be sharpening their skills.

I agree. When the execs talk about maximizing shareholder value there are only two shareholders that hold the majority of VMW stock. Mike Dell and Silverlake. Dell never really liked VMW and grabbed the 1st opportunity to make more $$ in his pocket. If you’re holding stock and think the $141.5 value will be realized think again. Just look at what shareholders got when VMW was spun off from EMC after that takeover.
